Un gioiello di architettura siciliana medievale torna a brillare: è il Castello di Serravalle, nel Comune di Mineo. Si tratta di un’alta fortificazione con torre di avvistamento su circa 100 km di pianura, un edificio antico di almeno otto secoli, al quale è stato dedicato un accurato restauro conservativo, realizzato su iniziativa dell’Avv. Orsola Sedati, con il supporto di fondi regionali: “E’ un atto di amore verso il territorio catanese, verso la nostra storia collettiva e anche verso la mia Famiglia. Il nostro Castello tornerà a vivere, a ospitare, a far parte della quotidianità delle istituzioni e delle persone. L’edificio è stato restituito alla collettività per seminari, iniziative culturali, mostre, eventi di Istituzioni e di privati. Ciò ha richiesto un grandissimo sforzo, ma per me era irrinunciabile questo traguardo e sono grata a tutti coloro che mi hanno aiutata, supportata, incoraggiata”.  

A jewel of Sicilian medieval architecture is shining once again: it is the Serravalle Castle in the municipality of Mineo. It is a high fortification with watchtower on about 100 km of plain, a building at least eight centuries old, to which a careful conservative restoration has been dedicated, carried out on the initiative of Avv. Orsola Sedati, with the support of regional funds: ‘It is an act of love towards the Catanese territory, towards our collective history and also towards my family. Our castle will come back to life, to host, to be part of the everyday life of institutions and people. The building has been returned to the community for seminars, cultural initiatives, exhibitions, events by institutions and private individuals. This required a great deal of effort, but for me this goal was indispensable and I am grateful to all those who helped, supported and encouraged me”.
